Match Report:
After the disappointment of being knocked out of the Division 1 Cup last week, New Town were hoping to get back on track today against Pardon Reserves, a team that had only managed one win in the league this season. Perhaps still suffering from a hangover from last week, New Town started poorly and struggled to get going. Parndon began to ask the early questions, most of which were answered and dealt with by the home team's back five.

In a tight game, it was a battle of the midfield as the ball was rarely in either of the attacking thirds. Both teams had a couple of long range shots but neither goalkeeper was tested. A disappointing first half for the neutrals ended 0-0.

At the start of the second half, New Town came alive straight from the kick-off. Within 60 seconds, the home team struck the woodwork after a decent snap-shot from Laurence Miles. The game suddenly woke up and New Town had a period of ten minutes where they dominated possession and territory. However, they could not break down a solid Parndon defence.

Parndon worked their way back in the game and started to look the more dangerous team. Numerous corners and crosses were swung in the box, but most were dealt with by Rob Dear in New Town's goal. From one corner, Parndon had a goal disallowed after a corner was taken while the referee was talking to players in the 6-yard box.

Things got worse for the away team after super-sub, Steve Bees, hobbled down the right wing and sent in a low-cross into the box. Mark Bellworthy took advantage of a slip from a defender and slotted in to give New Town a lead that they barely deserved.

With ten minutes left, Parndon began to throw men forward and it looked as though they weren't going to be able to get the goal they were looking for. That was until two minutes from time when a corner was swung in and headered in at the far-post, much to the delight of the away supporters.

The final whistle was blown to bring an end to a game that New Town will struggle to find many positives from. Based on the performance, it was a point gained rather than two points lost.
